we'll try to make as much people happy as possible :).

0.-4.x (Codename: Gladiator) (Future release)
Comment: "Pollice verso"
Downloads: (no downloads/tags (yet))
Bugs:
We don't know the status of solved and known bugs (yet).
About:
In this version:
- All vs All play will be introduced to one-player game (so in the binary version).
- We'll also introduce 3 levels of strength of the bots:
- Level 1:
the bot can win, together with an Ally, agains NotSoWeakBot.
(Current situation).
- Level 2:
the bot can win, alone, against 3 OurBots (a weak bot).
(7 of the 10 times)
- Level 3:
the bot can win, alone, against 3 NotSoWeakBots (a decent bot).
(also 7 of the 10 times)
Any level of bot (as of level 1) will have it's place on the site.
But you will earn more if your bot is stronger.
(Please bear in mind that not all players are going to want to necessarily play against a stronger bot.)
(However: a level 1 bot will get 1 coin profit, a level 2 bot 2 and a level 3 bot 3 coins...)

The Robot Kit
Known bugs
- Casteling doesn't work.
- En passant, both double as single are not sent to the bots.
- The engine considers strange situations as being mate;
but you are allowed to take advantage of it's weaknesses.
- Pat is not (yet) implemented; but it count's as a mate, so you still win...
- When in check bots don't always choose a move which puts them out of check.
(They do so at least 90% of the time...)
Done:
- Pawns cannot always move two places as first move.
About:
- After a lot of work we're going to release this version.
- The engine still makes some strange decisions, but, if you submit your bot
you can include the version number of the engine; one-shot wins will be calculated (by us)
against this specific version of the engine.
- We will improve the engine in the mean time; but will include your bot if it's apt as of this version.
0.-6.-11 (Codename: Luke Skywalker)
Comment: "Let's send this into space,
Who knows what will happen..."
Download:
This release uses Java 21: Windows,
Linux
Known bugs
- Casteling doesn't work.
- Pawns cannot move two steps as first move as soon as a first move is made.
- En passant, both double as single is not sent to the bots.
About:
This is a binary-only release.
In this version the binaries are first tested; We don't know (yet) what will be the outcome.
There has been a lot of work between this release and the previous one,
We rebranded "Our bot" and "Your bot" to "NotSoWeakBot" and "Your Own Bot",
Csilla (not Skywalker) and Luke (also not Skywalker) are testing as we speak...
We'll keep you posted...
0.-7.-12 (Codename: Planet Earth)
Comment: "I don't want to start a war over this, but:
you say the Earth is green,
while I say it is blue..."
About:
In this version the negotiation about with which colors the bot can play is rewritten.
Known bugs:
- Casteling is not implemented yet.
- In some cases the pawn cannot move two steps as first move.
ToDo:
- Robot vs Robot play is not yet implemented; this will be done in the first coming 0.-6.x release.
Done:
- Color negotiation is now finalized and should be ready to be used in the future, online version
(And bots written against this server, in other languages (besides Java), should continue to work
once the human server goes live...).
- The check-mechanism now also takes into account being check as Ally of, or Human player.
0.-8.-13 (Codename: Planck) (Initial Release)
Comment: "I was Plancking before it was cool B-)"
Solved bugs:
- (initial release...)
- (No solved bugs yet (In fact: many, but none exposed to the users ;-))
Known bugs:
- Casteling doesn't work (sometimes).
- In some cases the pawn cannot move two steps as first move.
Remarks:
- In this version the whole flow should be working
(and you should be able to build a robot).
ToDo:
- Robot vs Robot play is not yet implemented; this will be done in the first coming 0.-7.x release.
- The (color) negotiation needs to be rewritten to comply with requirements of the online future version
(This will be done in the next 0.-7.x release.).
